You have a story. A story that began with the family you were born into and was shaped over time by the the relationship between you, your parents, siblings and extended family.
When we become aware of who we are and what has shaped us a powerful thing happens: we receive the ability to choose. Now instead of our past unconsciously driving our present behavior, we have awareness. We are able to understand the forces that are at work inside of us and make choices about who and how we want to be in the world.
Your story may have started in a nurturing family with imperfect but attentive parents. Or your story may have begun in a family where you experienced neglect, criticism, over-indulgence, abandonment or abuse. Either way, you have a story and understanding your story is the key to healing, freedom and health in your life and relationships.
Treatment
Our Clinical Team utilizes Pia Mellody’s Post Induction Therapy model addressing the impact of developmental trauma. In addition, trauma treatment at CRR is based on a head and heart model where we teach you to understand how trauma impacts the brain and is also registered in your body. Then we help you to reconnect to your body in a safe manner so that the experiences long held in the body can be released and integrated into your present day life.
Nan Long on our Clinical Team is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) a well-know and research validated treatment for trauma. Another team member,Cheryl Schenck is in the process of completing training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy a type of therapy rooted in working with bodily based emotions and sensations to resolve trauma.
At the Center for Relational Recovery we draw on the specific skills and specializations of our team members to create an individualized treatment plan for each client that best addresses your specific issues and concerns.
