Getting the Love You Want, by Harville Hendrix PhD

Getting the Love You Want, was originally published in 1988, and has been revised several times. Hendrix and his wife, Helen LaKelly Hunt, PhD, were the originators of Imago Relationship Counseling, a type of couples’ therapy. The term “imago” is Latin for “image, “and refers to the “unconscious image of familiar love.” In other words, there is often a connection between the frustrations experienced in adult relationships and our early childhood experiences.

This book illustrate that we choose our partners for very specific reasons of which few of us are even aware.  The skills of mindfulness, how to communicate differently, and how to introduce a healing relating process into our relationships are some of the things that have made this book into a relationship classic. The audio version of Getting the Love You Want is easy to listen to and highly enjoyable, as well.

The Porn Trap by Wendy and Larry Maltz

Wendy and Larry Maltz, are renowned sex and relationship therapists who speak clearly and concisely about the destructive power and compelling nature of modern pornography. By using real-life stories combined with inventive exercises, advice and checklists, The Porn Trap offers a comprehensive program for understanding and healing porn addiction.

Without judgment, morality, or politics, the authors address the parallel of junk food being to nutrition as pornography is to intimacy. The Porn Trap also addresses personal integrity and healthy sexuality, both of which are essential elements to a successful and sustained recovery.
