An event every week that begins at 6:00 pm on Monday, repeating until March 19, 2018
Group Facilitators: Michelle Mays LPC, CSAT
One of the first things individuals dealing with sexual addiction need is information. They want to understand what is happening and what to do about it. The addicted person is seeking to understand why they do the things they do and why, despite often making great efforts they have been unable to stop. Partners have similar questions. Why is he doing these things? Can she stop?
Both individuals are, at the core, asking the same very important question.
IS THERE HOPE?
Foundations for Recovery is designed to satisfy the urgent need for information that individuals and couples dealing with sexual addiction have and to lay the groundwork for successful recovery for both individuals and their relationship. Foundations is for either the couple or individuals. Most importantly this group provides a solid, researched, proven route to sexual sobriety, resolution of the trauma resulting from betrayal, increased intimacy with one’s partner, a positive sexual self, and many more gifts discovered during the journey of recovery.
Foundations for Recovery is held on Monday evenings from 6-8:30 pm for 10 weeks.
Sexual Addiction Group
Participants in this group will work through the Facing the Shadow workbook written by Dr. Patrick Carnes. Group members will identify their pattern of sexually compulsive behavior and the situations, feelings and thinking that trigger them. They will focus on exploring the underlying dynamics that drive the addiction and will develop the skills and resources needed to practice healthy emotional, relational and sexual behaviors.
This group is designed to help partners begin to work through the ways in which being in relationship with a sex addict has impacted them. Using a curriculum designed by Michelle Mays LPC, CSAT, group members begin to sort through and resolve the trauma symptoms so frequently experienced by partners, identify the boundaries needed and develop a plan for self-care.
