CRR Team Spotlight, Robert Rubinow

Over the coming weeks we want to introduce you to members of CRR’s Clinical Team who you may not yet know. This week we invite you to take a few minutes to get to know a little bit more about Robert Rubinow.

Robert Rubinow is a Licensed Professional Counselor with the Center for Relational Recovery. Robert has many years of experience (both clinically and pastorally) treating individuals and couples contending with grief and loss, sexual addiction, trauma, infidelity, and relationship problems. Through his research into the effects of vicarious trauma, Robert recently published an article in a leading-tier journal in the field of traumatology.

Here are a few fun facts about Robert…

Robert is a lifelong Buckeye and an OSU fan who relocated to Virginia with his family four years ago. When he is not counseling or secretly daydreaming of his ideal career as an island resort rater, Robert enjoys camping and playing board games with his kids and taking long walks on the beach with his lovely wife Carrie, to whom he has been married for over 26 years. They have two boys and three girls, ranging from age 10 to 25.

Robert has many eclectic interests, from classic cars to classic guitar (although he can’t play worth a darn) to classic movies, as well as cooking his grandmother’s old recipes.

Robert is also an artist who loves to draw and paint and create just about anything with natural materials he finds. He has a keen interest and eye for great architecture and art. He is learning to paint (write) icons in the style and spiritual practices of Eastern Orthodox iconography.

Robert also likes reading, writing, and music of all kinds. Among Robert’s treasured collections is an autographed photo and personal letter he received as a kid from Johnny Cash.

Robert despises cauliflower and tolerates Lima beans, but could eat Texas BBQ while listening to the blues any day of the week. He is an animal lover, especially dogs that assist people contending with trauma-related stress. Robert enjoys hanging with kids of all ages and is passionate about restoring marriages and families to joy and love.
